Keep your Home Clean in Just 20 Minutes a Day!

Being a mom of two children under five-years-old has taught me many things. One being that it's next to impossible to clean your entire home in one day. Whether you work full-time out of the home, work at home, or are raising young kinds it's just extremely difficult to keep trying to get that whole house clean accomplished in a single day. Once I broke my cleaning up into daily 20 minute increments, everything changed.

The first thing you're going to want to do is print out my free Cleaning Schedule Printable at the bottom of this post. This printable also has monthly, quarterly, semi-annually, and annual tasks as well! Try to note that this specific schedule is what works for my household, but it's okay to rearrange any part of the schedule to fit your homes needs! I also have an editable version you can find here where you can type in your own tasks in each spot. If you'd like to laminate your printable to use as a dry erase schedule I highly recommend these self-laminating sheets!

There are a few things I do every single morning and every single night, no matter what else is on the cleaning schedule. Those two things are, prepare dinner in the morning so that cooking goes much faster and smoother come dinner time, and tidying the house both after breakfast and after dinner. Try to focus on your main dining area/living area for this daily task.

The remaining tasks get split up by day of the week and are as follows:

*NOTE Saturday & Sunday tasks will take longer than 20 minutes. I simply added them to the list because I had a lot of interest in what my cleaning tasks looked like on weekends since I split the rest up during the week.

Monday - KITCHEN : Deep clean the sink, clean stovetop, clean kitchen table, wipe appliances, wipe countertops, vacuum & mop

Tuesday - LIVING AREA : Dust, vacuum couch, wipe windows, wipe blinds, tidy, vacuum & mop

Wednesday - BEDROOMS : Change sheets, tidy, dust, clean mirrors, laundry, vacuum & mop

Thursday - BATHROOMS : Clean toilet, clean sink, clean shower, restock toilet paper, change towels, vacuum & mop

Friday - ENTRANCE AREA : Tidy, sort shoes & coats, wipe surfaces, clean switches, clean door handles, vacuum & mop

Saturday - MEAL RELATED : Clean fridge, tidy pantry, grocery shop (I do mine online which only takes about 10 minutes, but this task will of course take longer if you go into the store), meal plan, meal prep (optional), take stock

Sunday - MISCELLANEOUS : Clean car, vacuum stairways, dust ceiling fans, take out trash, sweep porch, mow the lawn

Once I decided to split these tasks up over the course of the week, I finally found a system that works for cleaning my home, and have kept it clean ever since. I want this for you, too!
