How to Keep Your Household In Order

Keeping your household in order can be a daunting task, especially if you aren't organizing and planning correctly. I'm here today to show you exactly how to keep your household in order without totally losing your mind!

1. Gather all of your important information

When I say all I mean ALL. Insurance info, contact lists, school info, babysitter info, emergency contact info, doctor info, account numbers, etc. If you're unsure of where to start take a look at step 2 below.

2. Keep all of your information in ONE place

Whether it be appointments, chores, meal prepping, passwords, or anything in between it's imperative that you keep one planner for everything. I've made this SUPER easy by creating The Ultimate Household Planner. It has very quickly become a best seller in my Etsy Shop and can be purchased for 70% off by clicking here!

3. Start keeping a family calendar

This can be a big chalkboard calendar that hangs on the wall in your kitchen, or a free printable calendar that you can magnet to the refrigerator. Whatever works best for you and your family is fine. This will be where you keep a master list of appointments, sports, school activities, meetings, etc. for the entire month.

4. Create a weekly meal plan

I know that meal planning can be difficult for some people. However, this is one of the biggest ways that I've been able to keep my anxiety throughout the week at an all time low. Every Saturday my fiance goes to Stop & Shop where the groceries for the week are already ready for pick up! If your local grocery stop offers this service I highly recommend it. On Sunday I take out my meal plan that I created while I did my grocery shopping online and I prepare our meals for the week. It takes a few hours to do, but once it's done I literally feel the weight of the week lifting off my shoulders. There is a meal planner in my home management planner linked above, but if you're just looking for a meal planner on it's own I also offer that linked here.

5. Create a cleaning schedule

This one's a biggie. Once you let chores get out of hand it can feel impossible to catch up. Been there, done that (still do sometimes)! There is nothing more valuable than a fresh cleaning schedule. I've created one for my daily needs, weekly needs, monthly needs, seasonal needs, and yearly needs! It has even turned me into a cleaning-lover. 6. Manage your bills regularly

Budgeting is something that I was never good at until this year. I had actually never truly budgeted in my life. My bills always got paid, my accounts never went negative, and I always had a very small amount of money in savings, but it just wasn't cutting it. When I got pregnant with my daughter I decided to give budgeting a good try and I'm so glad that I did. Some people like to budget weekly, some monthly, but I like to do it every 2 weeks because that is how my fiance gets paid. Since I created my own finance planner I have been able to get my savings account for a couple thousand to over $30 GRAND in less than a year. I also never worry about "did that bill get paid on time?" or "oh sh*t, I forgot that payment!".

7. Keep track of projects that you'd like to do around your home

Running a smooth household has a lot to do with home maintenance. Leaky faucet, broken fence, bedroom needs to be repainted, those cabinets are SO outdated. I could go on. Having all of that extra clutter of what projects need to get done swirling around your head is taking up unnecessary space. You're three times more likely to complete these projects if you write them down and you're 100 times more likely to not go crazy trying to remember them! Another fabulous bonus of having my household management planner in your palms.

Being organized and productive doesn't have to be impossible. Whether you're a single girl taking on the world by storm, or a married mom taking on your minis by storm, it IS possible to keep your home in order without feeling like you're always playing catch up.
